Princess Christening Gown

AndĀ it is indeed a christening gown fit for a Princess. I started working on it about a month ago planning the skirt, the bodice and the sleeves. After several drawings I finally settled on a high bodice with the sleevesĀ attached half to the bodice and half on the skirt. The skirt I drew and redrew as I wanted it to billow out at the bottom but be a bit tapered at the top. gown1

The skirt itself took about eighteen hoopings at the hemline and about seven hoopings for the center panel. I chose designs from the Heirloom Crystals II (celebrations) collection and then as I had several pieces of Kanta Laces I incoporated them in the sleeve.gown2

I chose heavy bridal satin which ofcourse lined with batiste made the gown extremely heavy. I have noted it and will be careful in future not to repeat that. The same Heirloom Crystals II designs were embroidered on the bodice and the sleeves. Only three colors were used, ivory, beige and gold. The skirt hem looked sort of plain so I went ahead and added a wide ruffle using ivory chiffon. And now I sit back and am extremely satisfied…a job well done and indeed a christening gown fitting a Princess.
