    Finishing a Masterpiece:

And it indeed is a Masterpiece! Last time I wrote on my blog page, I thought I was finished with the Secret Garden II and could move onto other things…wrong! As was pointed out by a dear tester of mine, I could enhance the wall hanging with a few extras….well, it was a good thought and my sincere thanks to my friend….

The added blocks gave me the opportunity to play a bit more and even I have to say….YES, this looks better.

I couldn’t wait to get home this weekend to stitch out the panels. While the panels were stitching I found several variations and became even more excited. Ofcourse, this meant adding a couple more blocks from scratch but in the end I think everything was well worth the effort. Not only does this allow the embroiderer to create different looks from one design collection but also gives the opportunity to create a much larger panel which could work out for a wall mural. Ofcourse this means that now I have to find a wall in my house where I can do justice to the idea. What did impress me was the fact that twelve panels only used 10 pre-wound bobbins!

My stitched out colors are a bit washed out even though I took the photograph outside and dh still has not made my frame…oh well, one thing at a time.

    Sewing for Summer:

Its finally here! The past several weeks have been a toss up between return of fall or winter but with temperatures in the 90’s….yup, its summer. For some while I have been trying to devise a simple tunic pattern which would not only be figure flattering but also easy to stitch out….meaning no darts etc. Well, I’ve finally have created one and must say the stitch out time is approximately half an hour from cutting out the pattern to complete finish. dressOfcourse I am using the serger so that might account for some of the time. The decision time was which designs to use. I finally settled upon the needle lace 1 designs around the neckline and the sleeves and hem.

Now the question is whether to attach the same lace on the hemline of the straight skirt or let it be as it is. Time will tell. Meanwhile, the fabric used was chiffon and I  self lined the shell of the tunic with it.
