OSQE Chantilly, 2012

Wow! What a show! I will admit that I had mixed emotions returning to the shows but meeting friends and seeing familiar faces alleviated any fears or reservations that I had. It was four days of fun and laughter! It was great to see so many familiar faces and get to know many new friends.

The shocker was going over my samples! Where I used to have boxes upon boxes of goodies…I only had two boxes of samples to show! Thanks to my memorable show several years ago, when my boxes fell off the back of my truck! Oh well, time to create more samples.

Another surprise was how many friends are into machine embroidery, along with sewing and quilting. I enjoyed sharing tips and techniques and seeing the surprise look of “wow, no one told us that” or “didn’t know we could do that”! Yup, machine embroidery is on an equal footing with sewing and quilting!

Carolyn and I shared our booth and there were very few moments when the booth was not jam packed! Thanks to our friends Evanlee and Jean, I don’t think we could have pulled off such success easily.

And the one collection that was the most popular and admired…New York Beauty takes the prize on that, followed by Feathered Trails. Surprise, surprise! Third in line were Victorian Patchwork,Farsi I and Kanta Laces.

So many friends asked about the quilting designs and I have to say that there is just one more pattern left for me to create via the embroidery machine. My goal has always been to recreate the heirloom/vintage, therefore making it available for our future generations. It was therefore a surprise to me that I have achieved part of my goal as far as the quilting patterns are concerned.  I do have a long ways to go though as far as laces and other embroidery techniques are concerned!

In the end I will say that I loved meeting everyone, and I hope to see them at other shows/retreats again. Yup, I’m back on the circuit and ready to share my knowledge with others. Hugs to all!

I knew going to the show would be a great positive for you. Love the new quilting designs, New York Beauty; so many things can be done with that. I think it would make a lovely table runner or small table square for beginners. And the color possilities…

Sadia, I hope you come to GA soon so I can visit with you. I just had another surgery but am doing well. Jerry is always asking about you. Take care. Marilyn
