Applique Technique

Hoop your background fabric upon which you will be doing an applique design. Your machine will first stitch out the outline of the applique shape that you will apply fabric to in the next step.
Place a piece of fabric on top of the area that has been stitched out making sure that the fabric is covering the outline area below. Now the machine will tack down this fabric onto the background fabric.

When the machine has tacked down the fabric, remove the hoop from the machine. DO NOT REMOVE THE FABRIC FROM THE HOOP.

LAY THE HOOP ON A FLAT SURFACE. Please do not place the hoop in your arms to trim away the fabric, always place it on a flat surface.

Using sharp scissors trim away the excess fabric from around the applique shapes. The best way is to lay one side of the blade flat against the background fabric while holding the applique fabric with the other hand.

Make sure that your scissors are pointed and are capable of cutting around corners. I use Storks scissors or Kai scissors.

Place the hoop back in the machine. Now your machine will finish the applique process by stitching around the appliqued tacked down pieces making sure that they are secure.
And your applique is done.
