Special Gift 2008

To thank all my friends from around the world, here is a collection of freestanding lace designs. The designs are a variation from covers for glass ornaments to lace edges to embellish holiday linens. I thank everyone of my friends for the continued support, kindness and thoughtfulness throughout the year. Wishing all a very Happy and Joyous Holiday season and best wishes for the coming New Year.
Using the Designs |
|
Gift2008a and Gift2008b are covers for small glass oranment balls. Stitch out the designs on water soluble stabilizer, and wash away the stabilizer completely from the design. You may need to soak for about fiteen minutes to remove stabilizer from the threads. Place on the ornament and shape with hand to form the cover for the ornament. The cover may be a bit loose which is fine. Hang and let dry. You may add beads through the tiny holes at bottom edge to give a festive look. These covers are for ornaments that are at least 2" in height (minus the holder). Foam balls may also be used if glass ornaments can't be found. |
|
Gift2008d is also for the 2" tall glass ornament except it has longer spokes with holes to gather at bottom and create an overall cover.

Follow directions for a and b and then shape around the ball, while the ornament cover is still damp. Using an 1/8" ribbon or a cord, tie the long loops together.

 |
Gift2008c is for the 2 5/8" to 3" tall glass ornament. Stitch out four panels on water soluble stabilizer.
Join all four panels in the middle by using a zigzag stitch.

|
This will create a ball effect. Wash out all the stabilizer and let dry. While it is still a bit damp, place the ornament inside the openings and tie a cord or ribbon at top and bottom.

You can stretch the lace to be snug onto the glass ornament.

Gift2008e and Gift2008f are edge and corner designs. They can be used in a variety of ways.
Simply stitch out the lace edgings and before washing, zigzag stitch them together. Use a zigzag stitch to join to fabric.
