"Shades of Trapunto" is a take off from two of my favorite activities, quilting and embroidery. The technique used in this collection is a form of reverse appliqué using batting and colored organza to create the look of shadow work with trapunto, hence the name "Shades of Trapunto". This collection consists of versatile designs that can be used in many ways. Trapunto is a technique of having a stuffed or raised look in a quilting design by way of batting or cording. This collection uses the similar technique only that all the work is done on your embroidery machine. Shades or shadow work is a technique which shows off a different color in the design behind the actual fabric. Combining both these techniques was not easy and I have a collection here that is very versatile and each design can be used as either a shadow work design or a trapunto design. These design can also be used as appliqué if desired. There are nineteen designs in this collection all for the 4x4 hoop size. Combining several designs lend to larger designs and are very easy and fast to do. The designs come with explicit instructions. Pictures below show the software images as some of the actual stitch-outs do not do justice to the designs. At the bottom of the pageis the link to the projects page. There is also a sample for you to download.
